IS WILL SMITH STILL GIVING MONEY TO SCIENTOLOGY?
THE FACTS
New article reports on what charitable contributions Will Smith made last year.
THE SPIN
For a good while there, everyone was chiming on whether or not Will Smith was indeed boarding the mothership with Tom Cruise and pledging allegiance to Zuul and The Great Gazoo along with the church of Scientology.
Kidding, kidding. No hate mail, Scientologists.
Anyway, because Will was giving his money to charities linked with the church along with reportedly started a school that incorporated the teachings of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, into the curriculum people were convinced that Will and Jada found a new spiritual home.
However, a new report from AOL Black Voices’ Jawn Murray does settle the issue of whether or not Will is still giving them money:
In a story first reported by Friedman on his Showbiz 411 blog, it was revealed that the 41-year-old actor actually made $575,475 in charitable contributions last year.
Of the donations, Smith’s largest endowments were given to the Baltimore School for the Arts Foundation ($200,000) and City of Refuge Church in Los Angeles ($150,000).
The married father of three also made contributions to the Daughters of Power in Beverly Hills ($12,800), the Harvard Foundation ($10,000) and an unspecified amount to the Muhammad Ali Museum in Louisville.
Hopefully, that will clear up the speculation about Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s affiliation with Scientology once and for all!
Actually, it doesn’t. It could very well be a tactical approach. Either way, if Will says he’s not then alright. It’s his business. If he thinks he’s going to end life by pop locking with L. Ron Hubbard and Darth Vader he is within his right.
Again, I’m totally kidding, Scientologists.

The only significant thing about what the high Income Earning African Americans do with their money is that few if any contribute any of this money directly to economic development for African American in our Communities.
Why don’t TV One research the investment of all High Earning Athletes and Entertainers and publish what they invest in our Community, and our people. Who cares what these Religious Institutions, and other Non-Profits do, they have not made any difference in the improvement in the quality of life for any of our people that I know about.
We have Africans Americans running ranpant through all of our major Cities committing Criminal Act, and killing and Robing each other on a regular basis, but no high profile African American who earns big money is willing to put any of their funds into economic projects to try and change any of these conditions.
Most of these Wealthy African Americans are primarily interest in buying a overpriced house, several overpriced cars, and some Bling to hang around their neck. African Americans have been putting money in the Church Collection Plates for as long as I can remember, but we are worse off now than ever before. So when are we going to adopt a new model? This Model has been outdated for some time.
scientology doesn’t believe in GOD! i believe in GOD because he’s the reason that i get up every mourning blessing him for giving me life and looking after my family. Will smith said something bout not believing in GOD coz he claims that GOD doesn’t exist. he hangs with tom cruise too much so i wouldn’t be surprised if he may use someone else to donate to scientology anyway. its time for the rich pay up in taxes coz they get away with too much murder for not paying their bills. i don’t care for will smith coz he’s very snotty ever since he mistreated janet hubert from fresh prince show. now he’s using his child to collect more money and fame for himself. master p’s son, romeo, finished acting & rapping and went to college to earn a degree therefore he should let his children decide what they want to do not follow into their parents’ career.
IT IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS WHAT WILL SMITH OR ANY OTHER CELEBRITY DOES WITH THEIR MONEY..THAT’S WHY IT’S THEIR MONEY…WILL SMITH MAKES THE MONEY AND HE HAS THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS WITH IT REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYONE THINKS OR HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT
It’s none of my business what he does with his money, he didn’t receive a bailout so why should this concern me…What a stupid question!
Wow the witch hunt is really on ain’t it? I mean heaven forbid someone have a religuos belief different than yours.
Look like this story proves what I always knew, Will Smith is a good guy. Also very charitable as well.
So let’s see a great father, actor, husband and role model. I guess that means you got take him down.
Forget the money. They can do what they like with their money. They earned it. If they want to support an organisation that kills people while they’re still living go ahead.
What I object to is that they are giving their children to the Scientology con,
Jaden and Willow are posted around to show that Scientology’s useless Study Tech makes black kids smart and rich, like them.
He has enough dough to wipe his whole families a** if he wants, and we would have no say so.
It’s his business what he does with his money not ours!! So we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. If he knows what I know he better get on his knees and and find his way in knowing who God is!!
For one of the few times ever, I agree with Berry. It isn’t our business who he gives money too.
MY MESSAGE WAS DELETED! NOW WE ARE BEING CESORED:(
what does it matter where his money is going…he made, he worked hard to make it and he doesn’t have to answer to nor does he owe an explanation to anyone about how he spends it.
If you’re jealous, envious or want to be like Will…do what he does, put family first, invest in yourself, learn a skill or craft and then spend your lifetime working toward your goal.
