Precious star Gabourey Sidibe talks about future roles.

Thus far Academy Award nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe has only spoke on her work in Precious, but now finally she’s opening up about potential new roles.

Last week it was reported that the producers of the new ABC hit series, Modern Family, would get Gabby for a recurring role.

Jesse Tyler Perguson, who works on the show, spoke out about his own push for Gabby on the show.

He told EW’s PopWrap:

“The one [guest star] I actually have gone after — because she’d be so brilliant — is Gabourey Sidibe. ” I think she would be fantastic as a nanny we hire. She’s just so bubbly and sweet and a fan of the show. I think this would be a seamless fit for her.”

Movieline caught up with Sidibe about the potential job and she said:

“Yeah, I heard that rumor as well. I actually really, really like that show. It’s the funniest show, it really is. So, I’d love to do it.”

She only added that she thought Ferguson was “awesome” and that she’s talked to some other people from the show.

Gabby will also guest star in the pilot for the new Showtime series, The Big C, and according to IMDB took part in a film called Yelling to the Sky with her Precious co-star’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz.

I’m really hopeful that Gabby secures additional work. Halle Berry is an Oscar winner and looks like Halle Berry and has still often noted how she struggles to find work. Same for Academy Award nominated actress, Taraji P. Henson. She mentioned last year that despite her nomination the work wasn’t exactly pouring in.
