Although women have swooned for him since the days he played Shazza Zulu on A Different World, there have been whispers over the years that actor Gary Dourdan would get a little too rough with his women.
So rough you’d be tempted to make grits for morning, lunch, and dinner.
It’s evident in his old battery conviction after beating down a girlfriend and his more notorious fights with the paparazzi.
Well, the 6’2, 190 lb actor might his match in new girlfriend, Maria, who stands at 5’8 and weighs 110 lbs.
TMZ reports:
Cops were called to a Venice, CA home in the early afternoon. We’re told when they arrived they found Dourdan scratched up. They arrested Maria Asis del Alamo where she was taken to the station and booked on misdemeanor domestic battery.
I’m not condoning violence, but with his violent past maybe this will help him find a nice young lady at an anger management class.

I’m sorry…am I reading the same article? Cause every comment has to do with who people want to see on the next Unsung…well then, I guess I’ll comment on this story. So his past with violence warrants him being abused by his girlfriend now? If domestic abuse is wrong, it needs to be wrong across the board. And telling from previous comments that no one could possibly care about a man getting beat shows the double standard in society. A lot of men get abused by women and it’s rarely talked about. I hope Gary Dourdan gets out of this abusive relationship.
I replaced Ted Mills of “Blue Magic” in 1990 and sang with the group for 14 years. The group has quite a story to tell. “Blue Magic” has a very interesting history and would be a great group for the UNSUNG series.
